In Candy Land, you begin the game with five lives. If you fail a level then you will lose a life, however this life is replenished (for free) after 30 minutes.
Consuming all five lives in one go will require you to wait at least two and a half hours for another full set of lives. This is an incredibly long time to wait, especially when you think you may have finally figured out how to beat the level you’re stuck on.

There are more ways to get a life, if you don't want to wait:
The easiest way, of course, is to just pay 12 gold bars for a full set of lives.
Another option is to switch from mobile to desktop. When you use up all your lives on your mobile app, you will find a full set of lives on Facebook.
Another free way to get more lives is to delete and reinstall the app. but this works only on mobile. If you do so, you’ll have full lives again when you open the app. Deleting and reinstalling the app doesn’t affect your progress or gold bars ( if you signed into Facebook before deleting the app) but it does delete all your boosters forever. So only perform this Candy Crush trick when you don’t have any boosters.
The recommended way to get more lives is to ask friends. So, when you run out of lives, click on "Ask friends" and select all your Candy Crush players from the next menu.
Pay attention that on web version you can send up to 50 life requests at once, even though you had selected all Candy Crush friends. That's why, I suggest you to repeat this action several times (each time the game selects 50 random friends).
Also, you can ask for lives before starting to play by clicking on the plus sign next to "Full" on web version and on "Full" text on mobile:
To get more lives from your friends, it's recommended to click on "Send to all" before entering a level
and on "Accept" when you open the Message Center:
